In 1984, hotel entrepreneurs Steve Rubell and Ian Schrager opened the first boutique hotel in New York. Their hotel was admired for its quirkiness and original design. The boutique hotels were then designed for travelers who were enthusiastic about their vacations rather than taking in the surrounding without interest. Morgans then soon followed and changed the way people thought about hotels. Today, Schrager wouldn’t describe his chain of hotels as boutique. However, the name is now applied to every hotel that resembles his hotels’ designs. From contemporary and clean to classic elegance and themed rooms, a boutique hotel is distinguished by its attention to detail and clear design.

3.     Service

The trademark of a boutique hotel is the high quality service it offers.
